Pride

So, I wasn't there for Barcelona Pride this year. Nor Atlanta. Nor Anywhere else that has a huge major pride festival. I was, however, near enough to Lexington's pride festival to swing by. So the ex and I drove up with the kids Saturday to check it out. There weren't miles and miles of sponsor and vendor tents. There wasn't an endless parade with dykes on bikes and floats overflowing with drag queens.

But what was there was excellent. It was held outside the old courthouse downtown.

There was a handful of food tents and trailers, several vendors (mostly local businesses), and dozens of organizations. They also had games and activities for the kids and a stage for entertainment acts. We were there for an American Idol-type talent show. We grabbed some food and then bought tickets so the kids could do the velcro wall.

After that they played out the rest of their tickets trying to win stuffed monkeys at the darts game.

The ex eventually just made a donation to the organization running the darts to get the monkeys outright.

On the way back to the car we stopped by the
fountains in front of the new courthouse to let the kids play.
