Someone Else 2012

Via The Huffington Post:

What the FUCK?

The Obama administration has gone from annoying inaction to downright animosity. The administration has filed a motion to dismiss the case of a married California couple who are challenging the 1996 [sic] Defense of Marriage Act. In their incendiary filing the Obama administration makes the usual one-man-one-woman bullshit arguments we've seen too much of recently.

From The Huffington Post:

U.S. Department of Justice lawyers argued that the act _ known informally as DOMA _ is constitutional and contended that awarding federal marriage benefits to gays would infringe on the rights of taxpayers in the 30 states that specifically prohibit same-sex marriages.

"The president made very explicit and emphatic campaign promises that he opposes DOMA and would provide leadership calling on Congress to repeal it," said Jennifer Pizer, marriage project director for Lambda Legal. "This brief is not consistent with that promise."

Justice spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler said Friday that the department is abiding by its standard practice of defending existing law and that the filing doesn't mean Obama has changed his mind about wanting to see gay couples win federal recognition.

"Until Congress passes legislation repealing the law, the administration will continue to defend the statute when it is challenged in the justice system," Schmaler said.

More than four months into his first term, Obama has been under growing pressure from gay rights activists who supported his candidacy to move forward on repealing DOMA and the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that prevents gays from serving openly in the military.

That's it. I'm done. If Obama doesn't take immediate action to undo the damage his people have done. If he doesn't start fulfilling his campaign promises. Then I'm going to do whatever I can to help someone else win the presidency from him in 2012. We had enough of lies, deciet and double-talk during the last administration.

Obama's Message to Iran

Don't you just miss the good old days when the US President couldn't even pronounce Nowruz? Much less other tongue-twisters like nuclear?

Yeah, me either.

Obama recorded a video message to the people of Iran yesterday on the occasion of Nowruz, a celebration of spring that marks the Iranian New Year.

This is why we voted for this guy. This is the way you communicate with other human beings. This is how you fight the notion that Americans are a bunch of fat capitalist war-mongers who only want to spread their empire across the globe. You don't fight terrorism with terror. You fight it with education, infrastructure development, and diplomacy. Reaching out with cultural understanding is a much better first step than threatening rhetoric.

Nobody Blogs on Weekends

It's lonely in here on weekends. My podcasts don't update. My friends...I mean the people whose blogs I read don't often update their blogs. I guess everybody else has a life of their own. Well ladies and gentlemen and the rest of you, I haven't abandoned the internet. I'm still here being outraged at the right-wingnuts' assholery. I'm still battling through my own self-medication to bring you the latest thing that will provide you a moment of distraction.

From the site Americans for Truth About Homosexuality:

Obama Begins Full Court Press on Extremist Homosexual Agenda within Minutes of Taking Oath of Office: Barber

obama_portrait_white_house.jpgSTATEMENT
Contact:  jmattbarber@comcast.net

DATE: January 21, 2009, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lynchburg, VA – Literally within minutes after President Obama took the oath of office yesterday, the official White House webpage was updated – under the heading of “The Agenda: Civil Rights” – to detail Obama’s wholesale “support for the LGBT (homosexual activist) community.”  His stated plans include the following:

  • Defeating all state and federal constitutional efforts to defend the millennia-old definition of natural marriage;
  • Repealing the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) signed by Bill Clinton – the only line of defense keeping all 50 states from being forced to recognize so-called “same-sex marriages” from extremely liberal states like Massachusetts and Connecticut;
  • Repealing the military’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy;
  • Passing constitutionally dubious and discriminatory “hate crimes” legislation, granting homosexuals and cross dressers special rights – denied other Americans – based on changeable sexual behaviors;
  • Passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which would force business owners (religious and otherwise) to abandon traditional values relative to sexual morality under penalty of law; and,
  • Creating intentionally motherless and fatherless homes and sexually confusing untold thousands of children by expanding “gay adoption.”
It's so refreshing to hear the same old hate spew from these people over and over again. The real TRUTH is that these people can't be using the truth because their information is based on skewed facts, emotionally loaded words, and an absolute refusal to use any evidence less than 1,000 years old. Yes, the Bible ladies and gentlemen and the rest of you. The Bible, that massive tract concocted by the Catholic church about 1,000 years AFTER the death of Christ to forward an agenda that included oppressing women, racial minorities, and of course those hated faggots.

Take the list of crimes Obama is trying to perpetrate as listed above: "The millennia-old definition of natural marriage"? What fool hasn't read his bible enough to know that the biblical definition of marriage included one man and all his wives, not the bigoted concept of one man one woman? Do we really want to go back to polygamy?

And calling DOMA the "only line of defense" from recognizing same-sex marriages is just silly. Bob Barr who wrote the legislation has already come out with the statement that it failed what it intended to do and is calling to repeal it. Check your facts.

But I think the most offensive thing is the statement "creating intentionally motherless and fatherless homes and sexually confusing thousands of children." Scientific research (although GLBT inclusive research is still not as common) indicates children develop best in two-parent homes regardless of the parents' gender. But of course we all know a child is better off being carted off to some underfunded orphanage than being given to a couple of queers.

On a personal note. I'm gay. My heterosexual parents didn't make me gay, nor did I become gay due to some neglect or abuse. I didn't decide to become gay; in fact I fought the realization that I was gay tooth and nail because I grew up in intolerant church, school, and home environments. I married a woman and had children to prove that I wasn't gay (as in the whole ex-gay movement). And you know what? I was still a faggot deep down. And you know what else? My kids have grown up in an environment where I have done my best to try to mitigate the effects of bigots such as those at Americans for Truth About Homosexuality. Neither one of them is gay. But thank God neither one will ever be a hate monger either.

OUR Whitehouse

I know I was absent for all the hoopla about the inauguration. Yes, I saw the hat. Yes, I heard the oath mess-up. Yes, I experienced tears of pain during the stilted performance of what seemed like a really great poem. But look what's up at the official Web site of the White House:

Support for the LGBT Community

"While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."

-- Barack Obama, June 1, 2007

  • Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: In 2004, crimes against LGBT Americans constituted the third-highest category of hate crime reported and made up more than 15 percent of such crimes. President Obama cosponsored legislation that would expand federal jurisdiction to include violent hate crimes perpetrated because of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical disability. As a state senator, President Obama passed tough legislation that made hate crimes and conspiracy to commit them against the law.
  • Fight Workplace Discrimination: President Obama supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and believes that our anti-discrimination employment laws should be expanded to include sexual orientation and gender identity. While an increasing number of employers have extended benefits to their employees' domestic partners, discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace occurs with no federal legal remedy. The President also sponsored legislation in the Illinois State Senate that would ban employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
  • Support Full Civil Unions and Federal Rights for LGBT Couples: President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples. Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights.
  • Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage: President Obama voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006 which would have defined marriage as between a man and a woman and prevented judicial extension of marriage-like rights to same-sex or other unmarried couples.
  • Repeal Don't Ask-Don't Tell: President Obama agrees with former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and other military experts that we need to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve. Discrimination should be prohibited. The U.S. government has spent millions of dollars replacing troops kicked out of the military because of their sexual orientation. Additionally, more than 300 language experts have been fired under this policy, including more than 50 who are fluent in Arabic. The President will work with military leaders to repeal the current policy and ensure it helps accomplish our national defense goals.
  • Expand Adoption Rights: President Obama believes that we must ensure adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving home, whether the parents are gay or not.
  • Promote AIDS Prevention: In the first year of his presidency, President Obama will develop and begin to implement a comprehensive national HIV/AIDS strategy that includes all federal agencies. The strategy will be designed to reduce HIV infections, increase access to care and reduce HIV-related health disparities. The President will support common sense approaches including age-appropriate sex education that includes information about contraception, combating infection within our prison population through education and contraception, and distributing contraceptives through our public health system. The President also supports lifting the federal ban on needle exchange, which could dramatically reduce rates of infection among drug users. President Obama has also been willing to confront the stigma -- too often tied to homophobia -- that continues to surround HIV/AIDS.
  • Empower Women to Prevent HIV/AIDS: In the United States, the percentage of women diagnosed with AIDS has quadrupled over the last 20 years. Today, women account for more than one quarter of all new HIV/AIDS diagnoses. President Obama introduced the Microbicide Development Act, which will accelerate the development of products that empower women in the battle against AIDS. Microbicides are a class of products currently under development that women apply topically to prevent transmission of HIV and other infections.
Well, it's a start.
