6 1/2 Minutes of Hate

Via Joe. My. God. This is just too heinous to wait 'till Monday.

We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. No, you can't throw away my Bible. Hey! Teacher! Leave those bigots alone.

And I thought the "Gathering Storm" in all its half-truths and fear-mongering was bad. Here is how the Illinois Family Institute explains their video:

The "Day of Silence", sponsored by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) will take place Friday, April 17th in schools across the nation. Participating teachers and students are told to remain silent during class time to protest discrimination and bullying felt by students who believe they are gay and/or transgender. 

It is our firm opinion that these claims of discrimination, intolerance and bullying (aimed at people of faith who believe God's Word that homosexuality is sin) are diverting attention away from GLSEN's main purpose which has been and continues to be the normalization of homosexuality among impressionable youth. 

This 6 minute video, made by a Bible believing church here in Illinois, exposes how our children are being indoctrinated, held captive and forced to accept an unproven and dangerous ideology while Biblical Truth is undermined.

It kind of makes me wonder if these people know anything about the Day of Silence. Do they really think it's going to be some kind of forced-participation event? Jesus, I had to go to numerous evangelical indoctrination assemblies when I was in school. Things like bodybuilders for Jesus and teenage alcoholics who turned their lives around. Yes, it was public school. No, we weren't offered the choice to opt out. Yes, these people told us all about how believing in Jesus would make us able to rip phone books in half and marry beautiful women. Do they think the gays really work like Christians do to make mindless zealots out of school children?

I just love how this video "exposes how our children are being indoctrinated, held captive and forced to accept and unproven and dangerous ideology" when in fact what goes on in this video resembles nothing in public schooling except that it was shot in a classroom. No one is being forced to participate in the Day of Silence.

It all boils down to the unwritten tent of Christianity that is persecution. They are taught to believe from an early age they will persecuted for their faith. There are biblical examples of early Christians being abused and killed for their beliefs. So in order to be the true faithful they have to be persecuted in some way too. When no persecution actually exists they have to make some up, to turn simple disagreement into persecution. "I am being threatened by a handful of people in my school not talking for one day." It's ludicrous. Only incredibly stupid people could view this video as anything but malicious deception.

I saw this guy on G-A-Y a few days ago and was saving it up for today's minute of hate. Then someone posted it on Slog today. I'm not going to add much here as I don't really feel anger at this guy's views (they're regurgitation of the usual hate) just a sad little teaspoon of pity.

Silly Commenters, Satire is for Thinkers

Sometimes the comments section in a video is more hilarious than the video itself. Case in point this recent video from EdwardCurrent:

One in five commenters has not bothered to read the category. And you wonder why criminals like George Bush get elected to office in the US.

Sometimes There Is No Why

According to a press release from the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District in Champaign, IL, someone has been dumping placentas in the municipal sewage system. Yes, placentas. Over the past month (or so) three healthy human placentas have been found by Sanitary District workers. The press release indicates that people involved in home births should not dispose of placentas in the municipal swage system as placentas are considered "potentially infectious medical waste." 

Oh wait, I've seen this one. Isn't this the one where the family goes on a vacation to Florida or somewhere where placentas are plentiful? Then the kid gets a baby placenta for a pet. But when they get home the dad flushes the troublesome placenta down the toilet. From there it gets in the sewers where it eats radioactive dogs or something and becomes a giant homicidal monster-placenta. Then it resurfaces and wrecks havoc on the city. 

But apparently this is a serious issue. Nobody in Illinois wants rogue placentas lurking about. 

The individual or individuals in the community that have been engaging in this practice must stop immediately and begin disposing of the medical waste associated with home births in an approved manner.  Persons assisting with home births can contact the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Champaign for disposal guidance by calling (217) 278-5800.  Local health authorities strongly encourage community members to alert the proper agencies if they have any information regarding the unauthorized disposal of medical waste.  

The press release then goes on to explain exactly what a placenta is. Are there any adults out there who doesn't know what a placenta is? I mean, I know they've pared down sex ed in America to something akin to a Surgeon General warning (Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.), but give me a break. 

If people don't know what a placenta is, maybe someone threw it in the toilet (or storm drain) by accident. 

Stranger things have happened. 

Minute of (Counter) Hate

I'm not going to focus too much energy on these bigots. But I do want to share the story of the counter-protesters in Buffalo, NY who drove away members of the hate group Westboro Baptist Church. From The Buffalo News:

Dozens of counterdemonstrators swarmed three members of a Kansas-based hate group when they tried to protest near a Main Street church where a memorial service for a Continental Flight 3407 crash victim was being held this afternoon.

The protesters, from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., left the area near St. Joseph University Catholic Church, near the University at Buffalo's South Campus, at about 1:50 p.m., only a few minutes after they arrived.

Counterdemonstrators, carrying plain white flags and banners, surrounded the three Westboro picketers as Buffalo police looked on.

I'm all for letting these morons show how stupid and full of ungodly hate they truly are. But I'm also all for protecting the loved ones of the plane crash victims from having to see them. 

Happy Venereal Disease

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen and the rest of you. I feel obligated to post something related to this abhorrent holiday. So, what should I say about the day that causes me the second most stress (after Christmas)? 

Blagh (apparently existing words can not fully express my feelings). 

If you're single, you're made to feel bad for being single. If you're partnered you're made to feel like you have to do something special or romantic. And this is one day when LGBT people have heterosexuality "thrown in our faces" because all this lovey-dovey pink-and-red-together absurd merchandising is all about heterosexuality. A man can't find a card for his husband. Especially if that man doesn't particularly want to express himself with parmesan crusted cheddar-saccharine ball sentiments. 

And let me just say this: PINK AND RED DO NOT GO TOGETHER - NEVER EVER, EVER. It looks stupid. It looks like suddenly everyone in the world gets to be a myopic septuagenerian woman for a day. 

Oh, and one more thing. If you have to express your romantic sentiments, please do so without the blasphemy of rhyme. Please, for the sake of all that is holy, stop with the terrible rhyme. Jesus feels the nail-holes again every time you put love with dove, above, glove, or shove. And there's a special circle of Hell for you lobotomites who eschew the aforementioned rhymes for some "slant rhyme" bastardization. Just don't. Please. I'm begging you. 

Excuse me, this creepy bitter old misanthrope has to go place a bomb at the corporate headquarters of a major greeting-card manufacturer now.
